Operating and recovery procedures, maintenance and replacement contracts, hot standby sites and distributed architectures are typical key components in disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Replacement cost and impact of downtime to the business aside, carefully managed and rehearsed, disaster recovery plans provide effective temporary, but limited continuity contingencies AFTER the event.
