How can On-Call assist in the prevention of disasters?

Unlike network management applications such as Whats Up Gold, CiscoWorks, Optivity and Castle Rock's SNMPc, On-Call is designed to operate separately to operational day to day Help desk operations activities and management applications

When other alerting systems have failed, On-Call can provide early and independently generated notification of adverse conditions before catastrophic failure or facilities loss occurs

  • On-Call is configured as a dedicated system monitoring only your most critical network devices and services.

  • On-Call provides independent monitoring of all types of IP network infrastructure devices. On-Call uses ICMP pings, snmp queries and traps to periodically test for metrics which operate outside predetermined values.

  • On-Call uses a series of user definable actions which enumerate and test for adverse conditions before automatically generating alerts to one or several persons via GSM SMS messaging (cell phones, pagers etc.) SMS mail, SMTP messaging, pop-ups and Exchange mail.

On-Call's purpose is to provide vital independent accurate data logging of critical events, enumeration, and, if necessary, messaging via independent paths using unambiguous language.

My existing Network Management system already provides alerting of critical event information. What is unique about On-Call?

  • On Call has been purposely designed for monitoring and reporting adverse events

  • On-Call is capable of using your LAN, PBX, private lines and GSM networks, pop ups and mail systems simultaneously to issue alerts

  • Alerts can be targeted via a calendar system to take care of communications method, shift changes and personnel availability

  • On-Call can be used as a secondary system for proprietary management systems such as process control

  • On-Call can be configured to monitor environmental conditions in your unmanned Data centre, telecomms equipment room and machine rooms

  • All event information can be stored, inspected archived and recalled making it ideal for heavily regulated industries such as biotechs, food processors, pharmaceutical manufacturers and financial institutions who require traceability and service level monitoring

Most generic network management systems have alerting as a secondary activity and have limited functionality. This is not particularly conducive to disaster prevention. In fact, day to day operations activities can accidentally render an alerting system useless through misconfiguration. Why take the risk?
